Good bus transportation. I feel safe here. But It hard to walk at night because few sidewalks. And they are often broken up. Traffic is bad here so even though Hyde Park is close to downtown, it might take 20 or more minutes to go 4 miles". Very good public transportation available in this neighborhood ". Resident 3y ago.
It is nice. I have enjoyed talking to my neighbors. It is a very clean place. I like that. There's also a neighborhood garage sale. Each house has character, which you don't find in areas with newer construction. There are lots of restaurants and shops here that give it a really cool laid-back vibe. The streets are beautiful, lined with old trees and charming houses. The energy is great because it is a mix of UT students, young professionals, and families.

However, sandwiches, soups and desserts are made with the freshest ingredients making it worth the trip. If you need a quiet place to study or work, the back room of Flightpath Coffee is your place. Also a great place to go for dessert after dinner at Hyde Park Grill. Most Hyde Park residents come here for the baked goods. They do serve sandwiches for lunch which are pretty good.
