EdD in Educational Leadership The EdD in Educational Leadership is a 54 semester hour doctoral program designed to prepare students for the advanced study of educational leadership and administration.

Program of study The EdD program consists of 42 hours of coursework in three domains: foundational 18 hours , focus area 12 hours , and research methods 12 hours. The course plan makes additional room for electives in the third year as students begin shaping their dissertation. High Point expects graduates to wrap up their 60 credits by the middle of Year 4.
NC State is a bastion for postsecondary administrators thanks to its Ed. The program welcomes new cohorts to either Charlotte or Raleigh, from where they complete 60 post-master's credits in just over three years.
That's two courses per spring, summer, and fall term, with additional dissertation seminars. K educators can apply to the Ed. Along with quantitative and qualitative research classes, an internship, and dissertation, students choose nine classes from a list twice as long, allowing them to sample coursework in policy, politics, and personnel.
Finally, the Ed. Students take up to 45 elective credits, including 12 in a specialization. The Carolina Ed. The basic program is 54 credits, nearly all from evening classes. Students often enroll part-time and take both courses the same night. The School Administration Add-on Licensure tacks on 27 credits to the program. Students without a North Carolina Principal License can add three courses from the school's master's program - that's also a requirement for enrollees without a master's degree in the field.
The School of Education makes funding available through various graduate assistantships and scholarships, including the Smith Innovations Fund for candidates studying ways to mitigate childhood trauma and the Wyne Memorial Scholarship for candidates focused on learners with disabilities. Students take a nine-credit core alongside 15 research credits. Fifteen of the 48 credits come from a concentration.
There are three: Higher Education; Learning, Design and Technology; and a P Superintendency concentration that meets at a nearby high school on Wednesday evenings. Successful Ed. UNC Greensboro boasts the only online Ed. Enrollees take a credit curriculum across four years, visiting campus three times - once each for their orientation, dissertation proposal, and dissertation defense.
The program includes a field practicum. UNCG's Ed. The program offers non-license and license options, meaning students can move from being principals to qualified superintendents after four years.
The program builds in social justice and equity issues and works toward creating schools that are fully realized democratic communities. Enrollees hit the books either via distance learning, on weeknight evenings, or one Saturday a month. The full program is 60 credits; 18 credits come from the specialization, and another 15 from electives chosen with an advisor.
Specialization credits include an Education and Government Internship or International Internship at an approved site abroad. Students who want more practice time can take additional internships as electives.
Candidates can alternatively use their electives to work toward their Community College Leadership Certificate. UNCW's program uses a hybrid model, alternating between one week of online study and one week of in-class study. However, students outside the region can attend the face-to-face sessions remotely.
Most students take two courses per term and need four years to finish the program. Applicants don't need to submit GRE results.
