Transmission practically rebuilt. Hard to switch gear between 2, 3 and 4. Repaired squeaky clutch. Clutch pedal was making a clunking noise. Complained of transmission shudder.
Noticable judder on acceleration. CVT was leaking fluid. Transmission slip - chronic problem for Hybrid Auto Transmission. So I would have to pay someone to put it on the lift and check it for me. I do not have the money for that either at this time. Basically, what ever I do with this car will involve some work in which I do not have for to spend as I am still making payments on this car plus full coverage insurance. Money is really tight.
I can't believe I have to pay someone just to check the transmission oil level because the car needs to be picked up from the ground just to check it. That's crazy.. Just bought myself my first car. I was a Honda fan since I was a small boy, always thought Honda was reliable car, but how reliable is this??????? I am very disappointed. After my bearings went out on my transmission according to the dealer anyway. Seems like that should not happen on a 9 year old car, but then, what do I know?
So I love the car, it's the newest car I have ever owned. I have always loved Honda's. So I spent my hard earned money, and bought what I thought was a great car. But it is just getting worse and mainly 1st-3rd gear 1st and 2nd make odd noise and 3rd I have to ease into so that it doesn't grind.
Very annoying and worried some thing is going to break. It just really pisses me off ,I have never had any problem of the sorts with any Honda that I have ever owned. I just hope there are more recalls out there for this problem because this is B. Hope I can get it fixed soon! I just recently bought this car from a used car lot.
I got an inspector to check it out to make sure everything was fine. He said the car had no signs of an accident and even looked better than its age. One day i'm driving and I get this noise. It's even worse now. I need it replaced. I am having great difficulty understanding how this problem has not been officially recognized by Honda as something to take seriously.
My input shaft bearing went out miles after my warranty was up. If I am driving with other cars behind me, I may be ran into when my car comes to a stop. I am afraid to leave town in my car. I get anxiety every time I drive it. Problems with transmission and tie rod bolts were loose. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer because there was a noise in the passenger front wheel and the gears were grinding when moving form second to third gear. The technician told the consumer that the vehicle's tires were bald therefore she was racing the car.
He went on to say that he would not check the transmission unless she agreed to pay for it. The consumer appealed the decision of the dealer and contacted the manufacturer.
The struts were loose on the right side. The tie rod bolts were loose which was probably the cause of the bald tires. The manufacturer refused to honor the warranty for the transmission although the vehicle was only six months old.
Other Power Train related problems of the Honda Civic. Automatic Transmission problems 7. There was a rattling noise coming from transmission, took to Honda certified mechanic and was told it was the throwout bearing and to replace the clutch as preventative maintenance, get a call when they have clutch off and told me its the bearings in the transmission.
This is a common problem in this make and model, there are numerous complaints, and videos on youtube of the same problem on Honda Civics around the same mileage. The transmission input shaft bearing is having issues. Makes noise when clutch is not pressed in but its ok when pressed. I heard Honda did recall for this issue.
Need help to fix it. Horrible noise coming from my '05 Civic lx's manual transmission. Noise has been getting worse; started at k miles. I have spoke with a few mechanics and they told me most Hondas have a recall for this problem.
I called Honda customer service at and they didn't wanted to fix it free of charge. Trans started making noise, after reviewing this site I realized that it was not safe for my 18 year old daughter to drive the vehicle reading how quickly the trans appear to give way and break down.

I heard this a Honda recall issue. Transmission went completely out in middle of busy intersection. Loud whining noise and revving of engine. I was almost hit by three different vehicles.
Honda was contacted by myself several years ago and would do nothing to fix this piece of junk. Now the car is being repaired at aamco. Transmission input shaft bearing failure. No significant event lead up to the failure. I have not had it repaired.
Is a daily problem. Never goes away. A mechanic at Honda told me it is the input shaft bearing and I need a new transmission. He said this is common with Hondas from mid 's to Harsh grinding noise when driving car or car is idling.
Noise stops when clutch is engaged. Difficult at times to put into gear. I have to ease it into gear at times. I fear for my life for when the bearing completely fails and the transmissions falls apart.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. There were times that the contact called and went to the dealer for regular maintenance, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not contacted. Over time, the popping noise worsened and the vehicle was currently unable to move. The failure mileage was approximately Transmission failure: started with a high pitch whining noise, slipping started about the 19th, while driving the car would not climb any hills and within 3 days the car would not move.
The car would not go over 5 mph without the rpms shooting to the red zone. The car has been parked since the incident, it's a driveway ornament. After checking around if the tranny is repaired the problem might happen again, because the tranny for that yr is the problem. The law must step in, with a class action suit filed on behalf of Honda Civic owners immediately. This failure reported here had no events leading up to the inability to accelerate, never happened before, no strange noises. In fact, new front struts were recently installed the old ones were leaking, another major complaint from owners of this model!
A 'whirring' noise started coming from the engine compartment. Approximately 40 miles later the car would not travel over 20 mph, we made it safely into a parking lot and shut off the engine. Started the vehicle after it cooled down and would not engage into drive but would engage in reverse.
