I ordered a TTMatic high-end robot model without a net. It was a beauty and a state of the art solid made and well thought of. It is simple to operate and provide functionalities that meet the needs of any player. We used it daily. To prevent any possible injuries from repetitive motions, we set the frequencies of the balls at a comfortable level and took frequent rests. Soon, I ordered plenty of table tennis balls and a pingpong buddy to pickup balls without having to bend.
I began to play table tennis at various hours of the day. I moved my computer to the table tennis room. I ordered a net for my TTMatic robot. I found it great to take frequent breaks to exercise my eyes sight and body after an hour of sedentary staring at the computer. My stress level have greatly decreased. My boredom has disappeared. The neck and shoulder pains that I experienced from desk work disappeared. A high rating means it is easy to use.
High overall ratings indicates a great product overall. This rating should NOT consider the price. An overpriced product should not get a lower rating. So the robot may feed you a ball to your forehand, then 4 balls to your backhand, etc. It is customizeable so you can make any sequence you want. It would require a long neck, or a platform with an adjustable height.
If your robot doesn't have this feature, you can use stools of different heights for small robots that sit on the table. Some robots can adjust the angle to shoot higher or lower, but still don't have an adjustable head height. This is much better than having to turn off the robot and collect the balls and put it back in the robot. In theory, the robot can then keep feeding you balls forever without stopping.
This feature must come with the robot out-of-the-box, without having to make your own custom net system. Better robots will have 3 wheels to make bottomspin, topspin, sidespin and combinations of these spins. With one wheel you cannot make a no-spin ball. I don't know what the cons are for the Amicus, but that was the biggest pro I saw. I don't really regret the TTmatic. One last thing. I've looked at both of the internal electronics and the TTmatic is far easier to repair if a chip did fail.
The Amicus is more of a computer with hard to get parts. That is a good reason to keep mine. Hope that helps some. Do you know which model of the TTMatic you have? Glad it was useful. I have the TTmatic B model. It has the net assembly attached to the robot frame. So, it can all roll away from the table real easily, in one piece.
I suspect I too have the bad power transistors but I also need a wiring diagram as I lost my sheet on where the power supply wires connect to blue, red and black. I noticed one supply had an extra resistor, mine is burnt to a crisp so I can't get any info from it, measures ohm but not sure if that is right. Do you know what the output voltage and current are for this machine, maybe I can just obtain a power supply from another device to match the requirements.
